Hume Studies

For over 50 years, Hume Studies has been publishing important, original, peer reviewed work on the life, thought, intellectual milieu, and reception of Scots Philosopher, Historian, and Economist David Hume (1711–76). Issues are published twice yearly by the Hume Society and distributed to all its members, making it a preferred venue for publishing articles that will come quickly to the attention of Hume scholars. Work on Hume's contributions to or influences on any field including but not limited to philosophy, history, psychology, economics, politics, and religion, is welcome. Submissions are accepted in English, French, German, and Spanish. There are no submission or author fees. The Journal is receptive to a wide variety of methods and approaches provided the work contributes to the understanding of Hume's thought, meets the highest standards of scholarship and demonstrates mastery of Hume’s writings and the pertinent secondary literature. Volumes prior to the five most recent are openly accessible through the Society’s website.
