Publication Ethics and Malpractice: Publisher

As publisher of Hume Studies, the Hume Society is ultimately responsible for the observance of best practice in the management of Hume Studies, and for supporting editors, reviewers, and authors in performing their ethical duties under these guidelines. In particular, the Hume Society is committed to

•       ensuring that the sole factor governing editorial decisions shall be the mandate to publish important, original, peer reviewed work bearing on the thought of David Hume that meets the highest standards of scholarship and demonstrates mastery of Hume's writings and the pertinent secondary literature
•       ensuring that editorial decisions are not affected by bias, including bias concerning the reputation, nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, or religion of the author(s)
•       ensuring that conflicts of interest are declared and mitigated
•       ensuring that the processes of editorial review and publication are publicly posted and observed.
